your nyc easter egg hunt guide, pt. 1
we're going on a bunny hunt..
Hi! Easter is almost here and I refuse to let you spend the next two weekends doing nothing because you didn't know where to go. So I did the work and rounded up the best Easter events + egg hunts I could find - just don’t forget to BYOB (bring your own basket). If you know of any others I missed, leave a comment below and I'll add it in. Plus, scroll all the way down for some of my speech therapist-approved basket stuffers that you won't immediately want to throw in the trash. enjoy! 🐰

For babies, always a board book or two. I love all of the books by fellow SLP, Tabitha Paige - beautiful illustrations with an emphasis on vocabulary and early language concepts. I would pick this one for Easter. Books with life-the-flaps, like this one, are a great way for babies to interact and engage more while reading + you can incorporate repetitive vocabulary like “open” or “who is it?” on each page.
For toddlers/older kids, I love these Ooly paint sticks - chunky enough for tiny hands and pretty much unbreakable (unlike crayons). A cooperative game or puzzle is great at this age - I just ordered this one. I also like to include small-ish toys or activities for restaurants or car rides, like a Sticker Wow book. I’m also throwing a themed Crazy Aaron’s putty in there and this spring travel Magnatiles set.
And then the timeless, cheap classics that I will never not include: bubbles, a few plastic easter eggs filled with stickers or temporary tattoos (endlessly entertaining and secretly great for language: target words like "open" and "close," practice sorting colors, play hide and seek) and finally a snack or treat they love: my daughter is really into Skout bars and YumEarth lollipops.
Ok that's it from me! Part 2 coming soon with next weekend's events!
